OMG it has been a year!

Just came to realize my last update was nearly a year ago! So much things had changed and I don't even know where to begin with. Just checked my draft and apparently there are 2 drafts that was lying there and its about "foreclosure" and "Economy crisis" but never did get published. I guess I lacked the passion to complete the drafts as its all just data but not about how to summarize it up nicely from my perspective. On a personal basis, the crisis impacted factory industries in the sense that increment and promotion comes scarce. I guess those who are the slave for industries have to endure this cyclical move, on a self note, I need to get out of the next cycle as the industry is too unforgiving..

Just a bit of update (not in chronological order) on whats happened for the last 1 year:

Burglary on my apartment - Somewhere in November my house got broke into (ok, he literally climbed in from my open window) and stole away my laptop, digital camera, Nokia charger, portable hard disk and wallet. The major impact is the portable hard disk which contains alot of my personal pictures and also information which I could leverage based on my work but fortunately I can survive without it. Did some improvement to deter further break in right after that...

This is what my original living room looks like, no big deal here

Masonry measure and preparing the demolision of the wall

The day the wall fell

There are 2 days where I have no windows to cover my new opening

Stole this from LuNee's blog on how the end result looks like

What is different here beside the extension of the additional 40 sq. ft. were the small facelift on my kitchen thanks to Elaine. Now it looks more neat and tidy :) Also different right now is the new carpet I got from Lorenzo! Hahaha, yes, I changed my old IKEA carpet and now its bigger, furrier and nicer! Of course it cause a dent in my pocket but for a place I spent so often, I think its worth it.

Another major event was my car involved in an accident around last August. It happened when my car had completed a service and was prepared to be delivered the next day, but a trainee from Shidi's workshop mis-judged some distance and broke my front... the damage is severe: front bumper, headlamp, bonnet, fender...
Everything was replaced with the same old stuff which Shidi manage to sourced but it took away another 3 months of my time. It was also repainted on the front side and its now back to normal

Apparently my only solitude entertainment was my lousy hi-fi, gone were the days of PS2, PSP, modeling and also trading card games. Age is really catching up I guess, my next hype is PS3 but that requires HDTV... definately something worth pondering :)

First time in charity

Having sinned so much in my life, I decided to contribute a little bit back to society by participating a joint event of charity organized by my friend Foong and his gang. The event was scheduled on 22nd December where we pour in the money and get lunch box and sundries for an old folk home at Relau.

The place was a very run down home which houses 30 old folks (including some with movement difficulty), the condition of the places are lacking and their requirement list are simply long. The gang managed to gather RM600 for this event by buying simple necessities like maggie mee, eggs, can food, soya bottle, and many of those stuff listed on the list. Besides that, we also bought about 35 packs of economy rice for the old folks as lunch. Just seeing them eating the food and thinking that normally they had worse meal made me feel very sad when I think about me enjoying sushi king and McD in my normal days....

Normally I don't do charity as I believe that the money I contributed would usually ended up in the committee's pocket (as this is usually the case) and not the affected victim, but this effort ensure that the money goes to the right people and you are able to see the effort being consumed there and then are simply something new. The best thing is this group only target to do charity on the worst condition old folks home or homeless child home... as oppose to those high profile old folks center which look more like a marketing gimmick.

Now that technically I have done some positive karma, I believe this should also make year 2009 a nicer future for me right? :P
Will definately do it again!

Post mortem

Looks like my head and stomach had been hit by a tornado, and the aftermath is full of craps and corpses around... Rewind back to last Thursday, I remembered I had an action packed day when I was cross country attending meeting on Penang office and then rushed to Kulim to conduct training for the people there, and top it up I had a heaty nasi kandar as lunch and with very minimal water drinking habit... I was down with fever the very same night.

Normally fever is a small matter which could be easily brushed off within one or two day of blanket sauna practice... however the scare of my life came when I realize that all that I ate and drink are being exited from my ass. Imagine your morning diet all came out and say hi from your ass in the afternoon, with your urine tract staying dry... having seen 4 seasons of Dr. House series, I know fully well that your body can sometimes play trick on you and make you seriously doubt the existence of a godly being.... Anyway, the feeling at that time was seriously mind boggling as your body had started to divert all the fluid waste into your rectum instead of your kidney, its kinda like your body had mistaken the food tract and urinary tract and enacted convergence lane into the wrong lane....

Fast forwarding 2 days later, everything is solved after I went to see doctor in the middle of the Sunday night (2 am), and after downing for what it may seem like a wide selection of cancer patient medicine, everything started to get reset in Sunday morning. I just drank my favourite Coca Cola at the time of this blog :)

The only bad moment for this sickness is that I shit my pants and had some awkward cleaning moment in the washroom myself, other than that, it came out pretty well

The smell of freedom is really priceless, while the smell of shit is nostalgic to say the least... the smell and color made me think of baby poop, healthy and yellow *Ewww*
Note: No more nasi kandar marathon next time!

TiBuN - 1 Kitten - 0

My working place got a bitch cat, who pops out a couple of kitten few months back, now the kittens are quite grown up, but not as grown as you'd think coz I saw them sucking their mum's nipple still...
Anyway yesterday saw that there was this cat sleeping on top of my sunroof, my evil conscious manage to convince me to remove that blissful creature from my car and that's what I did, I shoo the cat out from the top of my car. It did take quite a few attempt as the creature was apparently not used to human threat.

So was back to the canteen in a jiffy and continued my terrific company dinner. 15 minutes later, I had packed my stuff and begin to drive my car out towards the guard house, halfway there, there was a sudden thud on my rear left tyre, and a glance at the side mirror saw a kitten zooming pass, a further check on the rear view mirror saw a cat dancing macarena and kapuera high in the air.

Feeling guilty for what I did, I was thinking of reducing its pain by reversing and settle the break dance once and for all, but I didn't... maybe I don't have the guts or the will to really do it. Any how after the security clearance check I continued driving with something else already on my head.

Fast forward to this morning, a colleague claimed she saw the incident and brand me cruel... and it hit me, why am I cruel? I did nothing wrong as I was driving under the speed limit and was very awake, apparently the cat came from my right and run under my car in between the front and rear wheel, there is no way I was able to see it coming as a courteous driver always put his eyes on the front, 2 of the cats made it through (racing across my car) while this poor kitten didn't. I guess this is nature's selection at work and the weak was removed from the world (apparently the cat failed to judge speed and distance, and are bad in sprinting)

Today when I go back, I saw the mum and her remaining kitten, sitting in the middle of the road there blissfully enjoying sunset. When I walk passed the bitch somemore meow at me friendlily, I don't think she even know I killed her children yesterday.

Nature had a funny way of controlling population, just create failure and they will fail itself eventually. Human on the other hand are more resistant to death, the incapable ones will have additional benefit, wider protection coverage and life made easier than normal...etc. So its basically human defy nature, and sooner or later they will pay. Lets just hope its not my generation who suffer the effect

Late Chinese New Year blog

It has been 16 days since Chinese New Year is over, was so busy that's y did not blog early. So anyway, this year's CNY theme was Port Dickson, but seriously the best is Malacca and KL, PD sux because there is basically nothing worth mentioning...

The total stay were:
KL - 3 nites
Malacca - 2 nites
PD - 1 days

Our reunion dinner was in KL with satay, rendang, pulut and those miscelleneous (those stuff you can get when traveling northbound - Kajang). Most of the time were went for shopping and playing board games at my cousin's house, a big amount of time were also used to experiment the PSP games between Kevin's and mine, this is also when I discovered the wonder of game sharing feature...

Traveled to PD on 8th Feb and there was a big jam on the way entering PD town, silly people traveling to PD during peak season, stupid fools. Stayed in a christian hostel. Condition is OK and comfy, with air cond and water heater :) But personally there is no point in Port Dickson, the sea sux, the air sux, there is a dark water drainage flowing right into the sea and the worst part is RIGHT at the end of the flow, there are people swimming and playing in the sea... unless earth suffered a worldwide nuclear holocaust, I would not dip any part of my body into that sea. So anyway, PD is a no no (food there is expensive also)

Next is Malacca - the 2nd food heaven on 9th Feb (after Penang of course). The moment we reached there it was mee rebus. It was not as tasty as last time (a year ago), but still acceptable compare to the many ones in Penang.

At night it was satay celup at "Ban Lee Xiang", either alot people were craving for it the other night, or there has been a lack of supply in providing food in Malacca town as there is a huge influx of patrons wanting to eat and waiting outside the restaurant. Food is ok here, the sauce is still thick and crunchy and have alot of substance when biting, the variety is also alot, suppose to be much more than "Capitol" - another famous satay celup store in downtown Malacca

The next day we went to have dim sum somewhere in a place call Gajah Berang, as usual its full house (at this kind of period any decent shop also will be full house), so its expected anyway. For me, the most important characteristic of dim sum is it has to be moderately oily, and this place passed the oil test. Unlike Ipoh dim sum which is focusing more on the packaging and inner stuff, this is more for practicality and easier on the wallet.

The same day we end the food odessey with the standard staple of popiah, fried oyster, fish ball and chilli wan tan mee.

Basically this trip we missed out the cendol, chicken rice, tau gua, mi hun kuey, carrot cake and many more.... maybe next trip :(

After Malacca we went to KL for stay again for another night, then back to Penang on 12th Feb.

Total damage for this reunion - Minimum
Biggest regret for this trip - Did not buy the SONY EX earphone at Mahkota Parade for RM40 (was found at Mid Valley to be RM100), followed by not buying the Senheissen earphone at Mid Valley for RM38 (was found the original price is RM99)
Physical damage - leg pain for prolonged driving in cramp environment (maybe I should put a resolution next year to buy a MPV like the Toyota Cardinal for the family...)

Financial deadlock

The most important education that I believe we should receive during school and college time is 'finance study' or 'money and you'. How often do people earn a $1000 dollar, only to find out that his/her expenditure is $980 at the end of the month? This is mainly due to bad planning and poor financial grasp of reality, which again attributed to the lack of course and lessons we had in school in our early days.

As bad as it can be, a poor planning would virtully mean you've screwed your whole month activities, and waiting for a turnaround next month. This kind of thinking and scenario plagued alot of new entry employees around the world and as most of the motivation book mentioned "the rich will not teach everyone the secret towards wealth", hence we have alot of these people around.

So how to save money? If you earn RM1K and spent RM999 type of guy, when only you will save enough for that Nissan Skyline R34 GT-R V-SPEC NurII? When only will you have enough money to run your marriage ceremony at E&O hotel with 100 tables? Guess the answer to this question is breakthrough...

One will need good discipline, high amount of trust, and strong commitment to make the leap of faith.... one which I'm not prepared to do just yet.

So it's back to Maggie mee and 60km/h kind of lifestyle for now.

1st Bad Encounter with my neighbour

Tonite mark the night of my first encounter with a bastard neighbour. To make it short it was 10:30pm at night and my parents are driving my car back to BM, along with KY who joined us for dinner. While on the way out of my residential compound, there was a tight road where cars parked both sides and only 1 car is allowed to pass (no problem to me cause I understand we indeed have not many places to park our cars).

So KY move out first, with my dad driving behind, I was about to walk back and then I saw another car coming from the opposite direction, causing a deadlock where no car could move either way, thought of help smoothen the traffic flow, I asked the opposing car (Camry) to goto the side so that my dad can pass through.

Picture paint a thousand words

I politely ask him to goto the side so that the deto can overtake KY's car and lead the way back, but that fellow wind down the window, and said:

"Eh, that guy goto the side lah, I have no problem waiting here the whole night, as I already reached my house d (made some finger movement which I could not identify due to the night)"

This I quote 100%, no added spice or whatsoever. Then my dad, tired of the commotion, squeeze into the small space on the left to let that sunnavabiatch CB PKM KNS KLK Camry passed. Just so to prove his victory, he wind down his window while passing the red charade... Nia ma, what he try to do? If he say or threaten my dad, I don't know what I'll do to that bastard (or his car)...

Then I go home, pondering the incident, which I concluded that BOTH sides can actually give way and we can live a muhibbah life. But what I despise is the fucking way the bastard act. Like he drive a bloody Camry he can own the world like that. I dowan to disclose his race or ethic group here cause I dowan to be charge with discrimination, but what I can say is his skin is massively darker in colour compare to malay, and have foul body odour.

Dei macha, if you think you can be lansi and own the road because u're rich and drive a big car, then you're wrong! Fucking bastard. Your 16" Goodyear tyre will still cost you RM180 per piece you fricking moron.

Having said that, I remember Jeebs told me b4 the *ahem*Indian*cough* in our residential area are pretty similar in style. I wonder whether I will see more of these....

R.I.P. san yii

Not sure if it's me or any of my friends feel the same, there are many news associated with death this year. My 三姨 just passed away, due to cervical cancer most probably. Though I am not really that close with that side of relatives, but I'm pretty sure it'll impact my lifestyle indirectly.

The major impact will be my gourment style, I will have less chance to eat her great chai buey (菜尾). Her chai buey is one of the best I've eaten around, mainly coz she did not hold back on her ingredient and taruh it like it's New Year dish. No chai buey can come close to this and I think I will not have a chance to eat this anymore (unless her daughter or son manage to learn this around which I'm doubtful about)
Note : Chai buey is a soup dish made from all sorts of leftovers.

Then I will miss out a big portion of periodical festival foods like the CNY's cakes and biscuits she never fail to make annually.

Other than that, my mum will have 1 less place to hang out during her free time. Hope she won't use shopping to replace this void space.

Besides the food that I'm so selfishly missing, there's also a major change of interaction between me and my mother relative side as this aunt of mine serves as the public relation for my family towards the rest of the relatives. I foresee that in the future the bond will be also more severed and less communication in that sector. I guess not everything can be remain the same, hope her family will get over this and resume a more normal lifestyle soon.

There are many positive things from her which I don't think will mention it here as it's hard to express as it affects internal affair and involve extensive background understanding, most importantly, I believe she is happy for her 50 years of life.

Rest in peace 三姨.

Where is my 'wireless connection' ?

Beginning last week, there has been no wireless connection detected at my Apartment, due to this my poor sister and I were unable to download gaming tips, hunt for cheap stuff at lelong and also moderate forums like I used to. I can no longer live a healthy life at home because some idiot neighbour decided to switch off his wireless modem router when he's not using it.

I came out with a few theories on why he decided to switch off and it amazes me how can someone could ended up being so screwed up in mentality:

1) One of his friends told him that if you leave the modem ON for whole day, it will potentially burn off the modem due to overheat.

Fact : All devices have useful life. For my personal experience, modem's useful life have a 2 years to 5 years. That is why manufacturer gives 1 year part warranty because technically the product can last MINIMAL of 2 years. But there are cases where product fail before the minimal 2 years but consumer will be compensated for those minimal occurance.Being a consumer product (Class 3), all device will undergo reliability test as per JEDEC standard before releasing to the market and technically all product released to the market should be able to withstand until the middle of "Useful Life".

If that idiot switch off his modem, there is a chance that his modem could have say 10 months month useful life (which technically should allow him to practice his warranty benefit if he let the modem switch on for whole day), but because he DID NOT ON his modem everyday, which might ended up his modem spoilt at 1 years 1 months (for example). Then not only his action cause inconvenience to the neighbours but also void him of his warranty benefit and also tons of irritation.

2) Idiot wants to save energy coz he is a poor / middle income guy. He thought that switching off his modem will eventually save him enough for his new car or his coming marriage (I am assuming he's not married cause people like this shouldn't have good marriage prospect).

Fact : Maximum wireless modem's power consumption at average 12 watts @ 12VAC & 1.2A (based on D-Link DSL-604T) and would be approximately RM 1.88 (based on new tariff : RM43.60 on 200kWh). If the idiot thinks that saving RM2 (rounded up for clarity sake) can change his financial status, that wouldn't sound right either. If you switch off your computer then I understand lah, but switching off modem just because of RM2 per month... pathetic!
Reference : TNB tariff, Wireless modem spec

Based on these 2 main suspected reasons, I would conclude that the people in my apartment area does not have the muhibbah spirit as we Malaysians like to claim we have. Hope lightning strikes my apartment area and hope the surge find its way through the phone lines and zap that my neighbour's modem.

Guess I have to continue watch series and play my PS2 for now...

First blog ?

No, this is not my first blog, in fact my first blog goes to friendster blog, followed by MSN space (recently renamed to Windows Live Spaces), reason I blog is because :
1) Everyone is blogging, conformity is a social norm set in this place of the planet.
2) Free time, nothing better to do...
3) Use it as a place to store my thoughts, few years down the road, who knows what will I be thinking about my current self, it should be fun reminiscing back the old times (provided I manage to keep this blog for like....more than 6 months perhaps?)

So why blogspot.com ? Coz my friend Alvino blog here, and because the popular xiaxue also blogs here, so I reckon this shouldn't be a bad place to post your thoughts and findings, besides.... I hate my last blog space, the photos uploaded cannot be placed in html order format and have to be grouped into 1 bunch library.

Also the reason why the sudden impulse to change blog site is because my dad is going to get himself a DSLR soon, so with that added 'share resources' , I believe coupled with my photographic skills... alot of great masterpieces will be created and this will be a great place to post it.

Lets hope this place is sustainable. Wouldn't want this to be an impulsive decision action.
